SNFs can now access their PEPPER (Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report) for 4th Quarter 2013 online.
This latest PEPPER uses statistics through September 2013, and will be available for download for approximately one year.
To download your PEPPER, the CEO, President or Administrator of the SNF needs to:
- Visit the Secure PEPPER Access page
- Enter your 6-digit CMS Certification Number (also referred to as a Provider Number or PTAN). Note: this is not the same as your tax ID or NPI.
- Enter either (i) a Patient Control Number (UB04 form locator 03a) or (ii) a Medical Recod Number (UB04 form locator 03b) for a fee-for-service Medicare patient between Sept. 1 and 30, 2013. Omit commas, decimals, dashes and spaces.
- Click on the button to Access the Secure Portal.
- Complete all the fields.
- Download your PEPPER.

What about last year’s PEPPER?
WPS mailed PEPPERs to SNFs on August 30, 2013. Many providers mistook PEPPER for junk mail and discarded it. Make sure your information is up-to-date to be notified when this previous PEPPER becomes available for download in Summer 2014.
